St. Paul, France
They apparently only made incredibly impressive churches in Paris... always.
Palais de Luxembourg
Institute de France
From the lock-covered pedestrian bridge
Musee de Rodin
From the gardens -- some collection of Rodin!
From the gardens on the south end.
Arc de Triomphe
This is a deceiving photo, as this particular timing shows only one vehicle in the frame. One fraction of a second over thirty minutes produced this momentary empty scene... almost empty.
Virtually empty and adjacent to Les Halles, this seemed to be the second largest of those we visited. Lots of interesting chapels and art!
A much smaller church in the 6th, not too far from Notre Dame but almost without tourists. Very high bang for your buck (free) and beautiful stained glass.
A little church in Paris!
Altar at St Severine
An alley in St. Paul -- probably the only one without a gallery.
Closer view of the altar and some of the stained glass. Definitely the most detailed of all the displays.
1st floor, lacks the grandeur of the chapel above, but equally beautiful and much less crowded.
One of the streets in St. Paul, absolutely crowded by all the different shops and galleries.
Eiffel tower from Arc de Triomphe
Chapel in St Eustache
A 20 piece string group plays classical music between metro lines at Chatelet. The talent of Paris street musicians made DC look pretty bad!
During the last light show of the night, only the strobes were flashing, so you just get an outline. We had to walk back about 5km due to poor planning -- missed the last metro!
Definitely smaller than a lot of the others!
Eglise St Chapelle
Stained glass on steroids! A fifty foot tall chapel with 40 foot stained glass following the stories of the whole bible. The rose window is Revelations.
A view from the inside, which is too beautiful to describe. Big and incredible. NEED TO GO BACK!
Rose WIndow, Notre Dame
One of the original signs from the early 1900s marking the metro stop near Notre Dame.
Rose Window, Notre Dame
View from Le Meridien in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Not only was it a night in Monte Carlo, it was a night at the only hotel with a private beach . . . and then we were given a free upgrade to a top floor suite . . . and Sarah won 50 EUROS at the casino!!
Dan and Eiffel Tower
Sarah and Eiffel Tower
Closer, more industrial view of the Eiffel tower gives a bit more scale to the image. Truly massive and grand!
